A graduate of I. W. Ackerley's Culinary Arts Program in 1988, Chef Donald MacInnis has a wealth of personal resources to draw from. After graduation, the famed Keltic Lodge in Ingonish was his next stop with a classical French menu and European Brigade, Donald knew that this style of cooking was what he wanted to do. After completing his apprenticeship with CP Hotels, Jasper Park Lodge and Chateau Lake Louise, Donald traveled to Switerland to complete a stagier on the famed Bahnahoff Strausse in Zurich. 

In 1990 returning home to Cape Breton, Donald took the position of Chef de Cuisine for the inaugural season at the Markland Coastal Resort, voted one of the top 500 restaurants in where to eat in Canada in its first season among other accolades. After Executive Chef positions around the island, Glenor Distillary and Inverary Inn, Donald partnered up to open Bistro 100 in downtown Sydney. Wine Tidings Magazine (Quench Magazine) called Chef Donald MacInnis "The Maverick Chef" in its first edition of Maverick Chefs of Canada now in its 13th year featuring some of Canada's top Chefs.

For the past several years, Donald has been absent from the fine dining scene, running large scale operation kitchens in Western Canada. Keeping his finger on the pulse by doing events for the last few years with Right Some Good Food Festival on its culinary anchor team and working with some of the worlds finest Chefs. Donald is ready to do what he loves to do cook for you.
